Designcity – the interaction of design and urbanity was the central theme of the fourth design may in Berlin in 2006. The ZENDOME.systemtecture by System 180 made its contribution to this theme by functioning both as location and artistic object for the urban environment: the cupola roofed the festival bar and was used as a central meeting point.
With its diameter of ten meters and coated with a synthetic membrane it was an eye catcher in the outside area where international designers, offices and agencies showed more than 100 projects dealing with city and design.
In between all the conferences, initiatives, presentations, symposiums and other intensive insights into the tendencies of contemporary design, the ZENDOME.systemtecture by System 180 was a special place for meeting and relaxing.
The entire event was convincing enough that Berlin was birthplace for extraordinary design – and for a reason was declared “City of Design” by the UNESCO in January of 2006.
