Once again the largest Biathlon event of the year took place in Hochfilzen: in March the 40th world championships were held here in Austria.
While the difficult course with steep climbs and sheer drops took all the concentration of the athletes, the spectators were distracted by the ZENDOME.systemtecture by System 180: commissioned by the tourist office Pillerseetal, an impressing landscape of over dimensional geodesic “snowballs” was arranged.
The events of the supporting programme were held in the largest of the spheres with a diameter of 20 meters. This highlight of the “formula1 of winter” was clad in a synthetic membrane inside and out.
Numerous lights installed at the junction points of this special geodesic construction also played their part in making this event unforgettable for the spectators as well as the 300 journalists and photographers.
