ZENDOME.wind tunnel

Concerning the wind loads the introduction of the new DIN 1055-4 will have a great impact on all tent systems – due to increasing occurrence of strong winds and storms safety is becoming more important. Reason enough for ZENDOME to commission a study to be undertaken by Ib Engineering, that will use the Fluent®  software to take a closer look at the special geometry of the ZENDOME and formulas for dome shaped buildings EN 1991-1-4. Based on the virtual model of the ZENDOME.150M (Ø14m) wind speeds of up to 30m/s where simulated to calculate ensuing loads.

The result: Increasing wind is accelerated up to 62 m/s (220 km/h) by the round form of the geodesic dome and results in incredible forces of up to 1620 N on the suction side – just like the wings of an aeroplane.

The study proves: even today the ZENDOME meets the requirements stated by EN 1991-1-4 as well as the new DIN 1055-4. Und thus ZENDOME once again shows that it is true to its own claim of quality and safety.

ZENDOME – a plus in safety for any event.
