Another great tip for the summer time:
Who missed the spectacular exhibition 'From Byzantium to Istanbul', main event of the French cultural program “Saison de la Turque” at the Paris Grand Palais can experience the 8000 year old history of Istanbul in the city on the Bosporus itself.
The exhibition moved from France to Turkey where the Sakip Sabanci museum is showing it until the 4th of September.
One of the highlights of this great presentation is the ZENDOME.immersive media screen which lets the audience really experience important church and mosque cupolas of the Ottoman Empire with a perfect 360° projection.
The collection of around 300 pieces from different Turkish and foreign museums reminds visitors of the cosmopolitan identity and the different cultural roots of the city, says the director of the museum Dr Nazan Ölçer.
The exhibition is the core theme of the European Culture Capital Istanbul, which is sharing this title this year with the south Hungarian Pecs and the Ruhr.2010.
